  • OPAC of the Ruhr-University Bochum
    This link will direct you to the search page of the university’s central library catalogue (OPAC). There you can search for a variety of different media (e.g. e-media, newspapers, journals, books,…), as well as authors, editors, publishers, shelfmarks and many more. Note that the access to online journals, newspapers and other sources is only possible from the network of the Ruhr-University Bochum or via VPN.

  • Electronic Journals Library (EZB)
    The Electronic Journals Library (EZB) provides access to scientific journals in all subject areas. Moreover, it offers access to more than 109.000 scientific (full-text) journals from over 600 academic libraries. You can either search for journal titles using the search field or display journals of a specific subject area using the subject list. However, you cannot search for individual articles in the EZB.

  • MLA Bibliography
    The MLA International Bibliography is an online database of more than 2.8 million records and it constitutes an important tool for research in all aspects of modern languages and literature. It covers a wide range of humanities subjects, including world languages and literature, linguistics, drama, film, folklore, rhetoric and literary studies, as well as language teaching and publication history. The database covers scholarly, international publications in more than 70 languages. Numerous full-text links allow easy access to resources in the library as well as to open access publications. The database offers access to all kinds of publications, such as books, journal articles, chapters, dissertations or websites and can be accessed via the institutional login.

  • Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature (ABELL)
    ABELL, the Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature is a bibliographical database for English Studies, which contains more than 960,000 records. It lists literature (monographs, periodical articles, critical editions of literary works, book reviews, collections of essays, and dissertations) on English linguistics and literature, as well as on English culture. You can access the database via the institutional login.

  • Oxford English Dictionary
    The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is the principal historical dictionary of the English language, published by Oxford University Press (OUP). Moreover, it is the definitive record of the English language, featuring 600,000 words, 3 million quotations, and over 1,000 years of English. You can access the OED Online via the university's institutional login.

  • Early English Books Online (EEBO)
    The Early English Books Online (EEBO) is a collection of full-texts, which features over 125,000 literary and historical classics as they appeared in their original format. Furthermore, the database contains over 22 million digital images of virtually every work printed in the English language as well as works printed in Great Britain and its dependencies from 1473-1700 in any language. Included in EEBO are works by Shakespeare, Malory, Spenser, Bacon, More, Erasmus, Boyle, Newton, and Galileo; musical exercises by Henry Purcell; novels by Aphra Behn; and prayer books, pamphlets, proclamations, almanacs, calendars, and other primary resources.   • Deutsche Shakespeare-Gesellschaft
    The Deutsche Shakespeare-Gesellschaft (German Shakespeare Society) was founded in 1864 on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth on 23 April 1864 by Wilhelm Oechelhäuser and Franz Freiherr von Dingelstedt in Weimar as the first scientific-cultural association of its kind. It is one of the oldest literary associations in Europe, if not the world, and has about 2,000 members. It promotes the investigation with William Shakespeare’s works, particularly in the German-speaking countries. In doing so, it co-operates closely with scholars, teachers and artists.
