Im Rahmen des Workshops Frühe Neuzeit an der HU Berlin gibt Roland Weidle am 22. Februar 2025 ein Paper unter dem Titel "Practices of Truth Production: 'True Rule' in Shakespeare".
Studiobühne Musisches Zentrum, Ruhr University Bochum
19.-21. April 2024
Shakespeare's timeless comedy of mistaken identity once again proves its unbroken topicality. With themes such as community, diversity, love and identity, the play provides plenty of food for thought, potential for dialogue and - quite importantly - amusement for a modern audience. The performance is part of the program of the German Shakspeare Society's spring conference in Bochum, but can also be attended independently.
As part of the spring conference of the German Shakespeare Society, the METROPOLIS cinema is showing The Merchant of Venice (2004) and The Tempest (2010) in the original English version.

This student-led production of Shakespeare‘s Othello was presented first at the Spring Conference of the German Shakespeare-Society in 2019 on the topic of Shakespeare and Translation. Accordingly, the production is based on a clever twist. Three different languages are being spoken on stage: Turkish for Othello, German for Iago, and English for all other characters.
In the context of the class „English Drama in Action: Early Modern Drama (Hamlet)“, an ensemble of students, led by Niklas Füllner and Kai Bernhardt, performed in a rather special production of Shakespeare‘s Hamlet that had the audience move through the stage space like in a haunted house. Ever-present were the watching eyes of several cameras, highlighting the importance of supervision and observation in the play.
